Greater Manchester Police in the UK said one of the victims in Thursday’s synagogue attack may have been shot by officers by mistake. Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson confirmed advice from medical experts suggests the man’s wound was caused by a police bullet. He said the suspect, Jihad al Shamie, had no firearm, and only GMP officers fired shots to stop him. Another victim in hospital also has a gunshot wound but is not in danger. Both victims were near the synagogue door. Sir Stephen called the death a “tragic and unforeseen consequence” and offered condolences to families and the UK Jewish community.
