Nasa has announced it is “closed” after the US entered a government shutdown on October 1, 2025. The shutdown began when Congress failed to pass a budget, forcing thousands of federal workers, including Nasa staff, to be furloughed. Most Nasa activities, from space research to public outreach, are now paused. Day-to-day communication and social media updates have stopped. Only critical work, such as monitoring astronauts aboard the International Space Station, spacecraft operations, and asteroid tracking, continues. The shutdown may delay projects like the Artemis Moon mission. Nasa contractors and research partners also face disruptions if the deadlock continues. (PC: India Today)
