Nearly 1,000 trekkers were trapped after a severe blizzard hit the Mount Everest region in Tibet on Sunday. Heavy snow and rain began on Friday and intensified over the weekend, blocking routes and cutting off contact. Rescuers have helped 350 trekkers reach Qudang township, while over 200 others are being assisted. Hundreds of villagers joined rescue teams to clear snow and guide stranded trekkers. Many described extreme cold and risk of hypothermia. The blizzard hit during a peak trekking season when the area is usually clear. Rescue efforts continue as weather conditions remain harsh. (PC: HT)
