The Indian Army rescued stranded workers after massive floods hit Bhutan’s Phuentsholing area on Sunday. Continuous rain caused the Torsa river to overflow, flooding several homes and camps. Two Army helicopters from Sevoke Road Aviation Base were sent after Bhutan’s local rescue aircraft could not take off due to bad weather. Three workers from Rigsar Construction Pvt. Ltd. were safely airlifted. Officials praised the Army pilots for flying through poor visibility and dangerous conditions. The rescue showed India’s deep friendship with Bhutan and its strong spirit of humanity and service in times of crisis. (PC: The Hindu)
