A dedicated team under the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Karnataka has identified six suspects allegedly involved in the deletion of more than 6,000 voter names, each for a purported fee of ₹80, in the Aland constituency between December 2022 and February 2023. The deletions reportedly employed VOIP technology and fake applications, targeting genuine voters without their knowledge. Politicians claim the operation was part of a larger orchestrated effort to manipulate the electoral rolls prior to the 2023 assembly polls. (PC: The Hindu)
