'Raped by Cops, Pressured to Falsify Reports': Maharashtra Doctor's Suicide Note Exposes Five-Month Ordeal of Sexual and Workplace Harassment

A 28-year-old woman doctor at a Maharashtra government hospital in Satara died allegedly by suicide Thursday night in a hotel room, leaving a note on her palm accusing two police officers of rape and mental harassment. Sub-inspector Gopal Badane allegedly raped and sexually harassed her multiple occasions, while officer Prashant Bankar subjected her to mental harassment over five months. Relatives claim she faced pressure to falsify postmortem reports and workplace harassment from seniors. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered immediate suspension of the accused officers. Satara SP Tushar Doshi registered charges of rape and abetment to suicide. Police teams are locating both accused. Her aunt revealed she mentioned workplace harassment just two days prior.
