A private sleeper bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, on October 24, 2025, after colliding with a motorcycle. The motorcycle hit an open fuel tank, triggering the blaze. Onboard were 44 passengers and a consignment of 234 smartphones worth ₹46 lakh destined for Flipkart. The lithium-ion batteries of the smartphones exploded, accelerating the fire. At least 20 passengers died and several others were injured. The bus driver fled, while co-driver Siva Narayana was arrested. Authorities are investigating negligence, overspeeding, and safety lapses in this tragic incident.
