US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington wants to strengthen its strategic ties with Pakistan but not at the cost of relations with India. Speaking to reporters on his way to Malaysia, Rubio called it part of a “mature, pragmatic foreign policy.” He said both India and the US have relations with countries the other may not agree with. Rubio added that the US hopes to rebuild its partnership with Pakistan beyond counter-terror cooperation. He also said America’s friendship with India remains “deep and historic.” Rubio will meet Indian minister S Jaishankar at the ASEAN summit. (PC: HT)
