At least 28 people have died in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa hit the island earlier this week. Prime Minister Andrew Holness said the number could rise as more reports come in. The Category 5 storm destroyed homes, blocked roads, and caused severe flooding, especially in western areas like Montego Bay and Black River. About 72% of Jamaicans still have no electricity, and 6,000 people are staying in shelters. Aid efforts were delayed due to airport closures and damaged roads.
