The Kerala High Court ruled that a Muslim man cannot register his second marriage without hearing his first wife. The court said the first wife “cannot be a silent spectator” while her husband registers another marriage. If the first wife objects, the registrar must stop the process and send the case to court. The ruling came after a plea by Muhammed Shareef and his second wife seeking marriage registration. The court dismissed the plea as the first wife was not included. It clarified that marriage officials can hear objections and refer disputes to a civil court. (PC: India Today)
