A 60-year-old man, identified as Akhtar Hussaini Qutubuddin Ahmed, has been arrested in Mumbai for impersonating a scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). Investigators say he and his brother attempted to sell a purported lithium-6 reactor design to Iranian companies under the guise of “research collaboration”. Police recovered fake passports, Aadhaar/PAN cards and a fake BARC ID from Akhtar, who allegedly operated under multiple aliases. Over ten maps and nuclear-related documents were seized from him. The probe is ongoing to trace foreign funds and identify any espionage network links.
