The Supreme Court of India has supported the plea of Sumeet Sabharwal’s father—pilot of the crashed Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner—stating, “Nobody in the country believes it was the pilot’s fault.” The bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi clarified that no official report has blamed the pilot. The Court has now issued notices to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Centre, directing them to respond to a petition seeking a comprehensive investigation under Rule 11 of the Aircraft Investigation Rules, instead of the ongoing preliminary probe under Rule 9.
