An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 12:06 pm on Sunday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km, about 90 km from the islands. No reports of injuries or property damage have been received so far. The German Research Centre for Geosciences reported a slightly higher magnitude of 6.07, while the US Geological Survey recorded it at 5.5. Authorities confirmed there was no tsunami threat. The Andaman region lies in one of the world’s most active seismic zones. (PC: HT)
