More than 900,000 residents in eastern and northern regions of the Philippines have been evacuated as Super Typhoon Fung-wong, with sustained winds of 185 km/h and gusts up to 230 km/h, barrels toward landfall in Aurora province. Storm alerts at the highest level (Signal No. 5) are in place for southeastern Luzon, and flights have been cancelled, power outages reported and evacuation centres filled. The typhoon hits just days after Typhoon Kalmaegi devastated parts of the country, underscoring the escalating impact of severe weather events in the region.
