A massive fire at Amar Chitra Katha’s warehouse in Bhiwandi, near Mumbai, destroyed around 600,000 books and rare original artworks. The blaze, caused by a short circuit, lasted four days. Lost in the fire were over 200 hand-drawn illustrations from the 1960s and 1970s, along with special editions of Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle. The loss is both emotional and historic for fans of Indian comics. Editors said most works are digitally preserved and promised to rebuild. The comics, created by Anant Pai in 1967, remain cultural icons, teaching generations about Indian heritage. (PC: BBC)
