A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has found that adulterated ghee worth ₹250 crore was used to make Tirupati temple laddus between 2019 and 2024. The ghee reportedly contained palm oil, chemicals, and flavoring agents. It was supplied by several dairy firms, including Bhole Baba Organic Dairy and its subsidiaries. The SIT said the adulteration took place at a plant in Uttarakhand. The case came to light after tests confirmed the mix was not pure ghee. Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh said those responsible “played with faith” and will face strict legal action. (PC: X)
