Dr Umar Nabi, the Red Fort blast prime suspect, planned a major attack around the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary on December 6, sources revealed. The 28-year-old Pulwama-based doctor allegedly panicked after his aide Dr Muzammil Shakeel's arrest and 360kg ammonium nitrate recovery from Al Falah University, prematurely detonating explosives in his Hyundai i20, killing 12. Investigators say Umar underwent ideological radicalization after a 2021 Turkey trip with Shakeel, where they allegedly contacted JeM operatives. He'd been collecting explosive materials to build a vehicle-borne IED. Eight arrests followed seven from Kashmir, one from Lucknow after Srinagar police traced JeM posters to the interstate module.
