New details in the Red Fort blast case show that accused Dr Umar Nabi tried to radicalise people across several states. Intelligence sources said a girl from Imphal told investigators that Umar had added her to his contact list and tried to influence her. She said he gave her a Muslim name, “Mariyam”, as part of a “soft conversion” attempt, but she did not accept his ideas. Investigators say Umar used his position as a senior teacher to pressure students. They also believe his unstable mental health may have played a role in his actions. (PC: News18)
