Top Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, carrying a Rs 50 lakh bounty, was killed in an Andhra Pradesh encounter alongside his second wife Raje and four other Maoists. The 43-year-old led 26 deadly attacks against security forces, including the 2010 Dantewada ambush killing 76 CRPF personnel and the 2013 Jhiram Valley massacre claiming 27 lives, including Congress leaders. Born in Sukma in 1981, Hidma headed PLGA Battalion No 1 and was the youngest Central Committee member and only Bastar tribal in CPI (Maoist) leadership. Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated forces for meeting his November 30 deadline to neutralize Hidma, advancing India's March 2026 Maoist-free target. (PC: The Hindu)
