The Delhi Police told the Supreme Court that the 2020 Delhi riots accused, including Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid, are “more dangerous” because they are “intellectuals” guiding larger plans. Arguing against their bail pleas, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju said such “intellectuals” pose a greater threat than ground-level terrorists. He claimed the anti-CAA protests were designed for regime change and economic disruption. Parts of Imam’s speech were played in court, showing calls for road blockades and cutting links to the Northeast. The bench asked why the full video was not shown. The Supreme Court will continue the hearing on Friday. (PC: NDTV)
