A 16-year-old student of St Columba School in Delhi, Shourya Patil, died by suicide after jumping from Rajendra Place Metro Station. His father alleges that Shourya faced sustained mockery and emotional abuse by teachers, including a public rebuke when he fell during a dance rehearsal. One teacher allegedly told him, “cry as much as you want, it doesn’t matter to me.” The police have registered an FIR for abetment to suicide. In his suicide note, Shourya blamed specific staff members and expressed a wish to donate his organs.
