Jammu and Kashmir's State Investigation Agency raided Kashmir Times' Jammu office Thursday, recovering AK rifle cartridges, pistol rounds, and hand grenade pins during investigations into alleged anti-national activities. Founded in 1954 by Ved Bhasin, the publication has been regarded as pro-separatist. Current editors Anuradha Bhasin Jamwal and Prabodh Jamwal, currently abroad, condemned the raid as a "coordinated attempt to silence independent journalism," asserting that criticizing government isn't inimical to the state. The newspaper stopped printing its Jammu edition in 2021-22 but maintains online operations. Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary urged action only where wrongdoing is established. PDP's Iltija Mufti criticized the raid as "high-handedness," questioning whether all Kashmiris are being labeled anti-national. (PC: The Hindu)
