A protest against toxic air at India Gate in New Delhi turned violent on Sunday. Demonstrators gathered to demand action on Delhi’s “very poor” air quality. Police said some protesters tried to cross the C-hexagon barricades, blocking ambulances and emergency staff. When officers asked them to move back, the group became aggressive. A few protesters used pepper spray on police personnel. Three to four officers were injured and taken to RML Hospital for treatment. Police later removed the protesters to avoid traffic chaos. Officials said this is the first time pepper spray has been used against police in such a protest. (PC: NDTV)
