India defeated South Africa by 17 runs in the first ODI in Ranchi. Virat Kohli was the star, scoring his record 52nd ODI century. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul also hit fifties as India reached 349/8 in 50 overs. South Africa struggled early and fell to 11/3, with Harshit Rana taking two quick wickets. But Matthew Breetzke (72), Marco Jansen (70), and Corbin Bosch (67) kept their chase alive. Kuldeep Yadav turned the game with four wickets, including two in one over. South Africa were bowled out for 332 in 49.2 overs. India now lead the series 1-0.
