A massive fire at a nightclub in Arpora, Goa, killed 25 people, including tourists and staff. The blaze began above the stage during a performance and spread fast through the bamboo and fibre ceiling. Survivors say there was “gross negligence” and no proper warning. Many people were trapped because the exits were narrow and the club was overcrowded. Five injured people are being treated at Goa Medical College and are stable. Eyewitnesses said panic broke out as guests searched for missing friends. Police are probing the cause and say the death toll could have been higher without quick escapes. (PC: HT)
