A large fire tore through a bar in the Swiss resort town of Crans-Montana during New Year celebrations, killing “several tens” of people and injuring about 100, police said. Many of the victims suffered severe burns. The bar, Le Constellation, was crowded at the time. Swiss police said it is too early to confirm the cause but ruled out terrorism. Helicopters and ambulances rushed injured people, including foreign tourists, to nearby hospitals. Italy’s foreign ministry said about 40 people may have died.
