"Thousands of Attacks Since Yunus Took Power": Hasina Urges India to Stand Firm on Minority Protection

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina blamed Muhammad Yunus's interim government for systematic collapse of law, order, and secular values, enabling religious extremism and mob violence against minorities. In an exclusive CNN-News18 interview, she cited thousands of attacks on Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, and Ahmadiyya Muslims since Yunus assumed power, including Dipu Das's killing. Hasina accused Yunus of orchestrating anti-India protests outside the Indian High Commission to deflect from internal failures and providing political patronage to extremist groups. She urged India to support democracy, minority rights, and free elections in Bangladesh. Hasina warned that excluding the Awami League from February 12 elections would delegitimize the process, arguing true democracy requires participation without fear or coercion. (PC: AFP)
