In Noida’s Sector 150, 27-year-old Gurugram software engineer Yuvraj Mehta died after his car plunged into a deep, water-filled construction pit amid dense fog while returning home late Friday night. Witnesses, including Flipkart delivery agent Moninder, heard Mehta screaming for help and saw him holding a torch inside the submerged vehicle. Moninder tied a rope and entered the 70-ft deep ditch to attempt a rescue, criticizing emergency teams for hesitation, but Mehta had already drowned by the time he reached him. Rescue efforts by police, NDRF and fire services lasted nearly five hours before Mehta’s body was recovered. His family has complained about poor safety signage and lack of road reflectors at the site.
