US President Donald Trump linked his push for control of Greenland to not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, according to messages confirmed by US media. In a text to Norway’s prime minister, Trump said he no longer felt bound to focus only on peace and argued that US security required full control of Greenland. Norway’s Jonas Gahr Støre said the prize is awarded by an independent committee, not the government. Trump has repeatedly said the US should acquire Greenland and has warned of tariffs and other steps if allies oppose the idea.
