US President Donald Trump said no country other than the United States is capable of securing Greenland. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump said Denmark had failed to protect Greenland during World War II. “No nation is in a position to secure Greenland other than us,” he said. Trump also called Denmark “ungrateful” for criticising US claims. His remarks drew concern from European leaders, who warned that such statements threaten regional security. Trump later said he respects the people of Denmark and Greenland but insisted US involvement is necessary.
