Oscar-winning actor Olivia Colman, known for playing Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, has ancestral ties to Bihar and Kolkata, according to a resurfaced TV interview. In a 2019 episode of the genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are, Colman traced her lineage to Kishanganj in Bihar. Records showed her three-times great-grandmother, Harriot “India Harriot” Slessor, was born there around 1807 to an East India Company officer and an Indian woman. After her father’s death, she was sent to England through Kolkata port. She later returned and lived in Kolkata after marriage. Colman called the discovery a “Eureka” moment.
