Three African nations Namibia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo have agreed to accept deportations of UK migrants lacking legal residency after Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood threatened visa restrictions. The DRC complied after Britain stripped VIPs of preferential visa treatment and revoked fast-track visas for DRC nationals. Over 3,000 nationals from these countries could face removal under the agreements. Labour has removed 58,500 foreign criminals and illegal migrants since 2024. Simultaneously, Mahmood proposed sweeping settlement changes including 10-year waits for indefinite leave, 15 years for care workers, and 20 years for refugees, applied retroactively. Labour backbenchers criticized the April proposals as "un-British" and a "breach of trust." (PC: MSN)
