India has formally joined the US-led Pax Silica strategic alliance by signing the declaration at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, deepening cooperation on artificial intelligence, semiconductors and critical minerals supply chains. The initiative aims to build a resilient global tech ecosystem, reduce dependence on adversarial nations, and secure access to key minerals essential for chipmaking and AI infrastructure. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and US Under Secretary Jacob Helberg led the signing ceremony. Washington described India’s participation as “strategic and essential,” aligning with New Delhi’s push for technology self-reliance and global leadership in advanced innovation sectors.
