In a historic shift, the United States will introduce new paper currency bearing the signature of Donald Trump, marking the first time a sitting president’s signature appears on American banknotes. The move, announced by the US Treasury, ends a 165-year tradition of including the US Treasurer’s signature, a practice followed since 1861. Scott Bessent’s signature will still appear alongside Trump’s. The redesigned notes, starting with $100 bills, are part of celebrations for America’s 250th independence anniversary and are expected to enter circulation from mid-2026. (PC: AP)
