Playback Legend Asha Bhosle Dies At 92 In Mumbai After Illness

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle died on April 12 in Mumbai at the age of 92. She had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital with exhaustion and a chest infection. Her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle earlier said she was undergoing treatment. Her son Anand Bhosle confirmed her death and said last respects will be held at her residence, followed by final rites at Shivaji Park.   Bhosle had a career spanning over eight decades. She recorded thousands of songs in many languages. Known for her versatility, she sang ghazals, pop, classical and film songs. She received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Padma Vibhushan for her contribution to Indian music. (PC: India Today)
