A large rally in Imphal turned tense on Saturday after clashes broke out between protesters and security forces. The march was organised by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI). People gathered from valley districts and moved towards Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh’s residence to submit six demands. These included peace, safety, and action over recent violence. Police fired tear gas shells at several places to control the crowd. Panic spread near Khwairamband Ima Keithel as vendors and shoppers ran away. No major injuries were reported, but tension remained high.
