Raghu Rai, one of India’s most respected photographers, has died at the age of 83. His family confirmed the news on Sunday. Rai was known for capturing India’s history, people and politics through powerful images. He photographed major events such as the 1971 Bangladesh war and the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy. His work also included portraits of leaders, artists and everyday people. Rai received the Padma Shri in 1972. He was also a member of Magnum Photos.
