Mamata Banerjee said early counting trends were unreliable as the Bharatiya Janata Party took a strong lead in West Bengal. In a video message, the Trinamool Congress chief asked supporters to stay at counting centres. “Don’t leave the counting centres, the numbers are fake,” she said. Banerjee claimed TMC was ahead in many seats but figures were not being shown. She also alleged the Election Commission of India and BJP were hiding trends. She said results would change after 14–18 rounds of counting. BJP was leading in 181 seats, while TMC trailed at 90. (PC: HT)
