As the G20 summit in India concludes, UK PM Rishi Sunak announced Britain's largest single contribution of £1.62 billion to the Green Climate Fund helping vulnerable nations tackle climate change impacts. The fund established by 194 countries post COP15 supports developing countries on emissions reduction and adaptation. The new pledge is a 12.7% increase over the UK's 2020-2023 contribution which had already doubled initial funding. Sunak called on G20 leaders to reduce emissions and assist vulnerable economies ahead of COP28. He stated the UK is delivering on climate commitments both through domestic decarbonization and global assistance.
