The India Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave conditions will continue across large parts of north and central India till May 22, with temperatures expected to rise further in the coming days. States including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chhattisgarh are likely to face intense heat. In Delhi, the maximum temperature may touch 45 degrees Celsius next week. While scorching conditions persist, the weather department has also forecast light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in northeastern and southern states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Assam.
