At least 16 people have died from heatstroke across seven districts in Telangana as severe heatwave conditions continue to grip the state. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy confirmed the deaths after an emergency review meeting and announced ₹4 lakh ex-gratia compensation for each victim’s family. The worst-hit districts include Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Warangal Urban, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad. The government has directed officials to distribute drinking water, ORS packets, and buttermilk at public places while intensifying awareness campaigns.
