The proposed deal reportedly includes reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and broader discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security. Trump said discussions with Middle Eastern leaders and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were “productive.” However, Iran pushed back against parts of Trump’s announcement, insisting it would retain control over the Strait of Hormuz.
