US authorities have identified the suspect killed in the shooting outside the White House as 21-year-old Maryland resident Nasire Best. According to reports, Best allegedly believed he was the “modern-day incarnation of Jesus Christ” and had a history of psychiatric issues and previous security violations near the White House. Investigators said he removed a firearm from his bag and opened fire at Secret Service officers guarding a checkpoint before being shot dead in return fire. A bystander was also injured during the incident. President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time but was unharmed. The FBI and Secret Service are investigating the motive behind the attack. (PC: India Today)
