An 18-year-old NEET aspirant, Bhagyashree, allegedly died by suicide in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district, police said on Sunday. The student had scored 92 per cent in the Pre-University Course (PUC) examinations and had appeared for the NEET-UG 2026 exam on May 2. According to police officials, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her apartment. No suicide note has been recovered so far. Police inspected the spot and launched an investigation. The incident comes days after several reported student suicides linked to stress following the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 over alleged paper leak and examination irregularities affecting over 22 lakh candidates.
