Retired judge Giribala Singh was arrested by the CBI on Thursday in connection with the death of her daughter-in-law Twisha Sharma in Bhopal. The arrest came a day after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed the anticipatory bail granted to her by a trial court. Twisha was found dead on May 12, while an FIR was registered on May 15 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act. The court cited serious allegations and lack of cooperation in the investigation. Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma welcomed the decision and expressed confidence in the ongoing CBI probe. (PC: HT)
