Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was allegedly attacked during a visit to Sonarpur in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district. He had gone to meet families affected by post-poll violence when a crowd reportedly threw stones, eggs, and shoes at his convoy while shouting “chor chor” slogans. Banerjee said his shirt was torn and spectacles broken, and alleged it was a planned attempt to kill him, blaming BJP-linked workers.
