The prime accused in the murder of 17-year-old Surya Chauhan was killed in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad late on Saturday night. Police identified the accused as Asad, who was allegedly involved in Surya's killing on Bakrid. According to officials, police received information that Asad was planning to collect money from a friend in Khora before fleeing the city. A team set up surveillance and attempted to intercept him. Police said Asad opened fire during the operation, prompting retaliatory action. He was injured and later died in hospital.
