The Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended after heavy rainfall and an orange weather alert were issued in Uttarakhand. Officials said the decision was taken as a precaution to ensure the safety of pilgrims travelling to the Himalayan shrine. Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swaroop said devotees have been stopped at designated halt points, including Srinagar, until weather conditions improve. The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and snowfall in several hill districts, particularly at higher altitudes. Authorities said the pilgrimage will resume once routes are declared safe and weather conditions return to normal. (PC: News18)
