Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by ₹2 per kilogram across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, taking the retail rate to ₹86 per kg. The company has also raised domestic piped natural gas (PNG) prices by 50 paise per unit, with the new rate set at ₹52 per unit. The revised prices came into effect from May 30 and are expected to impact millions of households, auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi operators and public transport users. The latest revision is the second CNG price hike in May amid rising gas procurement and energy costs. (PC: The Hindu)
