Gaganyaan Astronaut P Balakrishnan Nair Awarded Kirti Chakra for Service and Courage

Air Commodore Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, one of the astronauts selected for India's Gaganyaan mission, has been awarded the Kirti Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu. The Kirti Chakra is India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award. Nair received the honour for his contribution to India's human spaceflight programme and his role as a backup astronaut for the Axiom-4 mission. A decorated Indian Air Force test pilot, he is among the four astronauts chosen for the Gaganyaan mission.
